  • I remember those 6 track days. No MIDI and no AUv3, just …Audio Copy? Was that what it was called? Since NS1 is long dead and buried on the AppStore, I doubt it will be possible to reprogram it to have the 16 tracks IAP be remove and the 16 tracks be the factory norm. Apple probably wouldn’t allow an updated version of NS1…
  • @starkfvx I don’t think that is possible, based on how the AppStore works and because the IAPs were developed by another company. The IAPs were set up to avoid (to some degree) the ability for them to be stolen and distributed on the internet - a sad reality of our world. That makes it a bit tricky to save them without NS2…
  • These issues have been discussed a lot in the past. Yeah, everyone has a price, but NS2 can’t make that money back, in the current iOS environment. So a company would have to be willing to lose money on the deal. A lot of money. Best bet in the short term is for all of us to future proof our iDevices with NS2 on it. Maybe…
  • The M2 Macbook came out after NS2 was released, so no guarantees. Please let me know if this sorts out your problem.
  • Also on an AUv3 track press “Manage” then “Refresh”
  • With that selected, NS2 should find all AUv3
  • @number37 Nice one! That should help most users. @Youtopia double check that one of the iPhones isn’t on an iOS greater than iOS 10. Does NS1 work on that iPhone, even without the 16 track upgrade? Use caution, but theoretically, uninstall/reinstall/upgrade should still work…. 🤞
  • NS1’s best shot w/16 tracks might be the PC version. I have NS1 on two iPads and one iPhone. The time to future-proof is now, either with NS1 (if possible) or NS2.
  • I’m starting the conspiracy theory that NS3 has already been fully developed, but Matt is keeping it for himself so that he can make all the best tracks.
  • I liked the funny bits!
  • I hadn’t thought about Slate Kits. I haven’t tried saving IAP kits as User kits to see if samples are transferred to a new iDevice. So maybe it wouldn’t work (?), but to be honest, I don’t use many of the Slate kits anyway, and if there are some that I really needed, I would just make my own samples by recording to…
  • Hmmm. Yes. Failing that, if one does “Save as” with the IAP, one can (and I know this is tedious) get each IAP patch onto an Obsidian track (probably on multiple projects) and Archive that/those project(s) and export them to a PC, external hard drive, other iDevices, etc. When importing the archived project onto a new…
  • So I haven’t tried testing before and after iMazing back ups, but if you do “Save As” on an IAP patch, it will be saved as a User patch. In theory (?) when backing up via iMazing the newly created User version of the IAP would be saved. I can’t test that at the moment, but maybe later…. I still don’t have an extra “blank”…
  • You can save IAP patches as User patches and back everything up with iMazing to extend the life of NS2 on your devices. The read-only folder contains samples that you can’t modify or copy (as I understand it). This shouldn’t affect regular use of NS2.
  • I’m not entirely sure what is going on, but I will look into it. You can save an app from one iPad and install it on another that you own with iMazing. At least as far as I know. I haven’t yet done this, but I have heard from others that it works. Perhaps you already know, but basically iMazing is a 3rd party app to back…
  • I highly recommend getting iMazing and backing up your apps locally. Don’t rely on the AppStore for this. Then you will be able to put NS2 on other devices from your iMazing back up.
  • I like it! Very unique sound you are getting out of NS1!
  • I didn’t know there were two apps so similarly named. I’ve heard one or both mentioned on the AB/Loopy forum, but I haven’t tried either.
  • Maybe other apps would do this. Have you tried MIDIStep?
  • Hmm. I can see that. I just tried it, but because I keep my screen brightness down low, it wasn’t a big deal. Still a dark splash screen would be ideal. I wonder why we never thought about that while NS2 was in active development…? When composing, I guess looking away for a moment will handle it, but if you are on stage, I…
  • No way! I knew you had good taste. In the 90’s my main workstation was an Ensoniq SD-1! I still have it, ….in a case, mostly ignored. I didn’t get that he was asking for keyboard step entry. That was good for the 90’s, but it is so much faster and easier using the piano grid with duplicate and drag handles. I suppose we…
  • I have also tried a lot of other DAWs and I can’t do much with any of them. I think I’ll stay with NS2 until the end.
  • NS1 is still quite usable and anyone who has the required hardware should consider NS1 like a vintage piece of kit. It offers a nice sound for those who can work it into their workflow. An easy way is to make use of the TRG-16. Record parts to TRG pads and the saved TRG-16 kits will load right into NS2’s Slate. I did this…
  • This part of the manual will answer a lot of your questions: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/PartEditor.html Basically, in the song editor, press draw to create a part (whatever number of measures) then double press that part and press draw again and start placing notes on the part editor grid.…
  • This is already possible. Do you have a question about it?
  • You CAN do this in NS2. Am I missing something…?
